What do You Want?

I need you to use your imagination for a minute.  Try to picture this.  Jesus Christ walks into your house today and sits down with you.  After you get over the shock, Jesus asks you one simple question - What do you want in your life?

This seems like a pretty simple question doesn't it?  What do you want?  What do you want God to do for you?  What are your wildest dreams?  If God came to you just like he came to Solomon in a dream and said, "What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!"  How would you answer?

The Good Samaritan Project

This is a video we put together for our youth ministry when we were teaching on what it means to love your neighbor.  If you have two minutes to spare it's definitely worth checking it.

Now go and do the same!

The Word "Tetelestai" and Why You Should Know What It Means

If you are anything like me you probably have never seen the word "tetelestai" before today.  If you are anything like me you see a word like "Tetalestai" and your mind immediately goes to the sound a person makes when they are sneezing.  Well, thanks to google, I now understand what this word means.  Here is what this word means and why you why you need to know what it means today as well:

What it Means
Tetelesai, the greek work for it is finished, is a verb that means that something is brought to an end.  It means that something is fully accomplished and has achieved its destined goal or is brought to perfection.  When someone had a debt in ancient times and it was paid off, they would write "tetelestai" on the certificate signifying "Paid in Full".

Why I Never Wanted to Be a Youth Pastor

God has a funny sense of humor.  I was talking to one of my buddies on the phone a few years and said, "I am willing to do anything in my life, but I really never want to be a youth pastor."  A few days later we were asked to take over the youth ministry at our church.  It's been said that if you want to make God laugh tell Him your plans.  I'm sure He got a good laugh out of this one.

As I look back and ask myself why I would never want to be a youth pastor, I guess it's because most youth workers I knew were pretty stereotypical.  You know what I'm talking about - trendy, say awesome all the time, feel more comfortable around kids half their age than people who are their age (which is extremely strange), and are somewhat lazy and non motivated.  In the past few years, I will say, I have met many people who are not this and have also met quite a few people who are this to the plaid button up with skinny jeans.

These Simple Words Changed My Life & Can Change Yours Too

My wife, Taylor, and I were ordained last night along with 4 other couples at Christian Life Center.  It was a beautiful evening.  To sum up our feelings I would say that we are honored, excited, moved, shaken, expectant, joyful, full of peace, and so completely humbled that God has chosen us.

I woke up this morning a bit more reflective than usual.  As I was looking  back and seeing  the hand of God opening door after door that only He could have opened, I was reminded of a morning about two years ago that was the turning point in my journey.

Guest Post by Harry Gomez :: How I Forgave Somebody Who Helped Send Me to Prison

Today's guest post was written by a friend and a true brother in Christ, Harry Gomez, who is one of the wiser individuals I have come across in my life.  I actually connected with Harry as a direct answer to prayer (I will post about that by itself one day!).  Harry has a ridiculous testimony that you have to hear to believe.  He is currently starting up a business with his wife, Tijuana, called PFL Solutions.  PFL solutions is focusing on, among other things, offering literary services such as ghost writing, copy editing, and proof reading.    For more info click the HERE.

Written By Harry Gomez:

Many of us have been wronged in some way by someone close to us, someone we trusted.  It is an unfortunate fact of life that no one on this planet is exempt from.  It is something we all must deal with at some point in our lives.  What matters, however, is how we choose to deal with a situation like that.  If we choose to exact revenge, we choose the way that will cause an even bigger chasm than the one that already exists between us and the person who wronged us.  And, we give the enemy kudos.  But if we choose to forgive and forget, we choose the way that honors God and opens the door for a blessing.

A Letter to Deacon Bishop Apostle the III

Dear (Insert your huge ministry title that is undoubtedly your facebook name as well here),

Your desire for the title has me a bit concerned.  Your push for worldly fame on yourname.com ministries and lust for the titles of the world leaves me a bit unnerved.  I guess it may be because Jesus only went by one name, and it seems as if the Pharisees and Sadducee's of the day more than likely always had 2 - 4.   Or maybe I am a bit concerned because Jesus desires a heart of servant and service ultimately to Him and His people, and it seems as if some have turned the church into a place that invokes service unto your title and position first.
